Taking part in a photo auction is like following a ritual up close. In the days leading up to the auction, one starts by viewing the photographs on display in the spacious and spectacular venue, which allows one to move around and observe them at a leisurely pace. Since it is not a real exhibition, the works are placed side by side to be appreciated without following a precise order. Some prefer to leave written bids or book to attend by telephone call, but those who choose to be there can enjoy a real show: the photographic lots of the great authors being presented, the collectors’ paddles being raised, the auctioneer leading the way like a conductor.
