Besana immortalises those white mountains from which the most beautiful marble in the world originates: among the marble veins of Carrara, Besana sculpts beauty, searching for a history that, as Michelangelo Buonarroti said, is already inside the stone. And inside those white stones there are dark stories, there is blood spilt by men and workers, because life in the quarries is a hard life, of wounds, losses and fatigue. And yet in Besana’s black and white images, along with the dismay caused by human fatigue, there is a sense of the grandeur of the earth and of the harmony of nature.
