Today the Bovisa district makes one think of the Politecnico and the suburbs, but until a few years ago it spoke of a social fabric teeming with life and above all labour. While the industrial history of the district is so rich that it earned Bovisa the nickname of Little Manchester, today there are only skeletons of that glorious past. Merati’s project stems from the idea of crystallising urban transformations through photographic research into places and symbols that we consume without grasping their social essence and historical value. An apparently silent urban reportage, but one that echoes with stories, sounds and voices.
