An exclusively black and white reportage that captures the landscapes, people, habits and life of a territory often considered only as a picture-perfect place, made up of resorts, relaxation, suspended time. Donzelli’s intentions are to go beyond the image that common opinion has created. Cape Verde is captured in its emotional essence, in its harsh and complex reality: contrasts, social problems, slums, pollution. The reportage, set on the islands of Sal and Boa Vista (and which will embrace the entire archipelago) tells of the ambivalence of reality: what for many is paradise, for others is prison.
