Aesthetic and cultural canons have accustomed us to seeing human bodies taking on animal features. In ancient Egypt there was Horus, a falcon-headed deity, and in classical Greece the Minotaur and Medusa; in the Middle Ages St Christopher the Cynocephalus and the Manticore; in the modern age we have Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hide, the Blade Runner replicants and the X-Men saga. Humanity has always considered the human body as a temporary chrysalis. Alessia Pastori handles this theme with elegant mastery creating a mutant and chimerical universe transfiguring human features.
