Three authors and three different yet complementary ways of interpreting such an ancient and fascinating theme as masks. Occhiomagico evokes their atavistic dimension: while apparently erasing women’s faces, masks reaffirm women’s emblematic personality through contemporary signs. Laura Ferrari reverses this vision by taking the inner part of the mask, the part that the wearer usually sees, symbolically shifting the usual perspective. Giancarla Pancera creates singular still lives by juxtaposing heterogeneous objects so as to give life to mechanical masks endowed with disturbing expressiveness.
