Fodella has produced an intense, dramatic and touching reportage on human trafficking, most notably from Cambodia. The cultural and social substratum represented is linked to this territory, but similar stories can be found everywhere in the poorest parts of the world. Fodella recounts, through black and white portraits, all aspects of human trafficking: from poverty to the dream of a better life, pursued because the illusion is inculcated so betrayal becomes atrocious. But he also recounts the drama of those who remain and the disillusionment of those who manage to save themselves, because returning to the starting point is anything but life-saving.
