In his still life photographs, Bonfanti draws on the Renaissance and 17th century iconography and culture. Why return to a theme so dear to art history as human manifestation? In a period of universal uncertainty such as the one we are currently going through, still life once again plays a very central role, offering multiple layers of interpretation and cues for a reconsideration of the relationship between man and nature. A relationship that in the years of the pandemic has been forced into a rupture and that the photographer mends amidst reconciliation, transcendence and metaphysics.
