As often happens with artistic works, the source of inspiration is a personal story. Pandemonium is the name that Alessia Spina, playing with etymologies and with the name of the Greek god Pan, has given to the panic attacks from which she has been suffering for many years. It is said that to better understand that which frightens us, we must immerse ourselves in it- and Alessia Spina has immersed herself in fear, meeting and photographing people who suffer from panic attacks like her. She started with friends and acquaintances and then moved on to perfect strangers, capturing, through images, gestures and signs, the meaning of a positive event disguised as something negative and terrifying.
