The Civic Photographic Archive holds, on behalf of the BEIC Foundation, the photo collections of Paolo Monti (Novara 1908 – Milan 1982). Among his various research interests, since the early 1950s, he carried out a wide range of photographic experimental activities in line with post war boldest art experimentations and also with major artists such as Luigi Veronesi and Albe Steiner. The exhibition Photography and abstraction in Paolo Monti will display, for the first time, a thorough selection of 800 monotypes, mainly chemigrams, that are pieces of art where an image is created by painting with chemicals on light-sensitive paper.
