Traces, signs of the passage of unknown men. On ancient documents, preserved in the State Archives, there remain traces such as drops of ink, fingerprints, small sketches left by unknown men, lost in an ancient past. Robotti’s work collects these traces by isolating them from the context of the document and leaving the white space to the imagination of the observer. If, therefore, the photograph becomes geometric and almost abstract, the observer’s thought is divided between observing the marks and wondering about the lives that left them.
