Dall’Angelo’s study focuses on the resilience of trees. Majestic, ancient, alive, static only on the face of it, seductive in their adaptablity to (at times) extreme environmental and atmospheric conditions. Indded Dall’Angelo took these two series of photographs in Finnish Lapland and on Sumba (Indonesia), respectively. For both series, the artist was struck by the strength, flexibility and physical resistance necessary to survive in conditions so unusual as to border on the fantastic.
