A reflection dedicated to pollution in Northern Italy. This is the central theme of The Earth Below, a wide-ranging project that is an exhibition, a book, and outreach. “The landscape of the productive North is dotted with cases of pollution of land and water, not to mention the quality of the air we breathe”. The photographer’s duty is, therefore, also to bring little-known facts to the attention of the general public, kindling the light of awareness. In a journey that moves between investigative journalism, research, cartography and social denunciation, the photographers recount three cases of industrial pollution in order to provide a new vision of the productive landscape of Northern Italy.
