Fumagalli and Perotti’s is a journey of the mind that starts with some photographs that Sergio Perotti found in his family archive. They were photos of his mother and aunt on a trip to the United States in 1958, an exciting experience of cultural exchange. Determined to recreate the feeling that still shone through the images- a mixture of enthusiasm, novelty, amazement and faith in the future- Perotti and Fumagalli retraced that journey, taking advantage of the possibilities offered by technology and imposed by the lockdown: Google Street View thus became the new way of bringing together the present and the past, the virtual and the analogue.
