Il rapporto tra l’individuo e l’ambiente che lo circonda è un terreno molto frequentato dai fotografi. In modo particolare l’indagine acquista una speciale atmosfera quando il paesaggio è quello straniante, a volte avvolgente, dei grandi agglomerati metropolitani. In queste immagini de Sandi racconta la difficoltà a rapportarsi con spazi particolarmente ampi e per vari aspetti incombenti. I soggetti ritratti sembrano essere incuriositi, ma appaiono anche in soggezione di fronte alla profondità del panorama che li fronteggia. Che siano grandi spazi vuoti o palazzi dai mille riflessi.

The relationship between the individual and the environment that surrounds him is a very popular subject for photographers. In particular, this type of research acquires a special character when the landscape is the alienating- and sometimes enveloping- one of the great metropolitan agglomerations. In these images, de Sandi reveals the difficulty in relating to particularly wide and imposing spaces. The subjects portrayed seem to be intrigued by, but also in awe of, the depths of the panorama that faces them. Whether it consist of large empty spaces or buildings with a thousand reflections.
