Le fotografie di Maddalena Arcelloni sono insieme testimonianza e racconto di una costrizione. Nella primavera 2020, quando il lockdown ha chiuso il mondo, la fotografa era nei Maine insieme a un uomo appena conosciuto. Nel chiuso di un appartamento, la fotografia diventa urgenza espressiva e si rivolge all’unica persona presente. È così che nasce Incredibly Close: dalla fortuita vicinanza a uno sconosciuto e dal lento fluire del tempo che Maddalena Arcelloni trascorre insieme a lui. Un progetto fatto di close up e di conoscenza, di frammenti di corpo e di attenzione all’inesplorato, di lentezza e di prospettive incredibilmente vicine.

Maddalena Arcelloni’s photographs are both a testimony and a tale of a confinement. In spring 2020, when the lockdown shut down the world, the photographer was in Maine with a man she had just met. Within the confines of an apartment, photography becomes an expressive urgency and turns to the only person present. This is how Incredibly Close was born: from the fortuitous closeness to a stranger and the slow flow of time that Maddalena Arcelloni spent with him. A project made of close-ups and awareness, of body fragments and attention to the unexplored, of slowness and incredibly close perspectives.
