Il collettivo di fotografi Manicomio Fotografico ha come centro di ricerca il luogo abbandonato. Con questa serie si sono concentrati sull’aspetto emotivo di uno di quei luoghi il cui vuoto riecheggia di voci ancora oggi: proprio il manicomio. La storica legge Basaglia ha cambiato molte cose, tra le quali la modalità di narrazione della follia e del luogo che la rinchiude. Può allora una fotografia narrare e rievocare un’emozione vissuta da altri in un luogo come questo? È a questa domanda che i fotografi hanno risposto, ciascuno trovando a suo modo la rappresentazione di spaesamento, preoccupazione, solitudine e infine abbandono.

The collective of photographers Manicomio Fotografico [Photographic Asylum]  sees the ‘abandoned place’ as the focus of its research. With this series they have focused on the emotional aspect of one of those places, the emptiness of which still echoes with voices today: the asylum itself. The historical Basaglia law has changed many things, including the way of narrating madness and the place that encloses it. Can a photograph narrate and evoke an emotion experienced by others in a place like this? The photographers have answered this question, each finding their own way to represent bewilderment, concern, loneliness and finally emptiness.
