Il Nord Europa esercita grande fascino su noi italiani. Lo stiamo scoprendo attraverso festival, libri, viaggi, musica, addirittura stile di vita. Ma cosa significa veramente vivere nel vero Nord? Quello gelido, ruvido e inospitale. A questa domanda rispondono le fotografie di Valentina Tamborra che, con il sostegno di Visit Norway, ha esplorato le Isole Svalbard. Immagini vere e intense che raccontano il confine (dall’etrusco “Mi Tular): un lembo di terra ghiacciata dove gli uomini (soprav)vivono a temperature che vanno a -35°, dove la luce è un miraggio e gli orsi superano numericamente gli uomini.

Northern Europe exerts great allure on us Italians. We are discovering it through festivals, books, travel, music, and even lifestyle. But what does it really mean to live in the real North? The cold, rough and inhospitable North. This question is answered by the photographs of Valentina Tamborra who, with the support of Visit Norway, explored the Svalbard Islands. Genuine and intense images that relate the frontier (from the Etruscan “Mi Tular”): a strip of icy land where men survive at temperatures that go down to -35 °C, where light is a mirage and bears outnumber men.
