La Mostra presenta venti fotografie in bianco e nero tratte dai reportage realizzati in Germania Est da Gian Butturini nel 1973 e 1974, quando ha documentato il Festival Internazionale della Gioventù a Berlino, la vita in DDR, il regime e la fratellanza con l’URSS: un capitolo della storia tedesca caratterizzato dalla guerra fredda. La Germania Est di Gian Butturini indaga i momenti pubblici, ma al centro ci sono i lavoratori, le donne e i bambini nella loro quotidianità: coglie l’umanità e le peculiarità di un popolo. L’affresco di un’epoca che si concluse con la caduta del Muro.

The exhibition presents twenty black and white photographs taken from the reportages made in East Germany by Gian Butturini in 1973 and 1974, when he documented the International Youth Festival in Berlin, life in the GDR, the regime and brotherhood with the USSR: a chapter in German history characterized by the Cold War. Gian Butturini’s East Germany investigates public moments, at the center of which are workers, women and children going about their daily lives: it captures humanity and the peculiarities of a people. A depiction of an era that ended with the fall of the Wall.
