Invece di buttare via, Cattaneo raccoglie. Non solo: raccoglie, pone sotto una luce diversa e scova quel significato ironico mostrandocelo in tutta la sua rinnovata bellezza. Il fotografo è da sempre un autore insubordinato: conosce a menadito tutte le tecniche della fotografia  ma, quando compie le sue ricerche, le usa altrimenti. Meglio se al contrario, e possibilmente infilandoci anche un tocco ironico, giocoso, insieme al piacere di sperimentare. Nella maggior parte delle sue serie l’autore parte spesso da un gesto di salvaguardia, di cura e di affetto ed è questo un aspetto che la mostra intende sottolineare.

Instead of throwing away, Cattaneo collects. Not only: he collects, places in a different light, and finds that ironic meaning capable of conveying renewed beauty. The photographer has always been an insubordinate author: he knows all the techniques of photography but, when he carries out his research, he uses them otherwise: the wrong way round, and possibly with a touch of playful irony, along with the pleasure of experimenting. In most of his series the author  starts from a gesture of protection, care and affection- and this is an aspect that the exhibition intends to emphasize.
