“Se non stravolgo la realtà, non sono contento”, diceva Enrico Cattaneo e questa mostra che raccoglie alcune delle sue più interessanti sperimentazioni ne è la più evidente conferma. Si parte da Safari, un bellissimo lavoro finora inedito del 1972 con dichiarati richiami allo spirito di Man Ray realizzato su una particolare carta fotografica verde, per proseguire su due opposti versanti con la corposità delle fotosculture di Cartacce e la fragilità delle opere di In regress. Il dialogo fra il rigore della chimica e la casualità a caratterizzare sia i delicatissimi Paesaggi/Chimifoto sia le sorprendenti Germinazioni, suo ultimo lavoro del 2016.

As Enrico Cattaneo used to say, “If I don’t subvert reality, I’m not happy,”: this exhibition, that collects some of his most interesting experiments, is the most evident confirmation of this. It starts with Safari, a beautiful, previously unpublished work from 1972 with declared references to the spirit of Man Ray produced on distinctive green photographic paper, and continues in two opposite directions with the full-bodied nature of Cartacce‘s [Scrap Paper’s] photosculptures and the fragility of In regress. The dialogue between the rigor of chemistry and randomness characterize both the delicate Landscapes/Chimiphotos and the surprising Germinations, his last project from 2016.
