Se Oscar Wilde diceva di non viaggiare mai senza il suo diario per avere qualcosa di sensazionale da leggere, oggi si potrebbe dire che il sensazionale accade durante il viaggio. Per Gabriele Lopez la metropolitana è infatti un teatro incredibile di situazioni umane: le identità si mescolano, i ruoli si appianano tra chi dorme, chi sbuffa, chi legge, chi si nasconde tra cuffie e smartphone. La metropolitana è uno spazio umano e transitorio ed è anche l’oggetto di indagine del fotografo che dal 2005 a oggi ha ritratto questo spettacolo quotidiano, realizzandone una mostra e un libro.
If Oscar Wilde claimed never to travel without his diary so as to always have something sensational to read, today you could say that the sensational happens during the journey. For Gabriele Lopez, the subway is an incredible stage for human situations: identities mingle, roles are smoothed out between those who sleep, those who huff and puff, those who read, those who hide between headphones and smartphones. The subway is a human and transitory space, and it is also the object of investigation of the photographer who, from 2005 to today, has captured this daily show, creating an exhibition and a book.
