Il proprio riflesso su una superficie permette di uscire da se stessi. Se qualcuno di esterno osservasse questa astrazione da sé e dai propri pensieri troverebbe spunto per molte storie. È il caso di Alfredo Bernasconi: le superfici riflettenti dalle quali racconta storie sono i vetri dei vagoni della metropolitana. Le sue foto non nascono come tali: sono fotogrammi tratti da video, e i suoi video traggono dalla fotografia l’immediatezza dell’istante catturato. Senza usare piani sequenza o carrellate, Bernasconi ferma quell’attimo di “riflessione” nel continuo muoversi e ammassarsi di sconosciuti.
One’s reflection on a surface allows one to come out of the self. If someone from the outside observed this abstraction from the self and from one’s own thoughts, he would find inspiration for many stories. This is the case of Alfredo Bernasconi: the reflecting surfaces from which he extracts stories are the windows of subway cars. His photos are not born as such: they are frames taken from videos, and his videos borrow the immediacy of the captured instant from photography. Without using sequential or rolling shots, Bernasconi stops that moment of “reflection” in the continuous movement and mass of strangers.
