It was once said that blue was the most sought-after and precious colour in painting: the reason for this was that linseed oil had to be mixed with expensive lapis lazuli powder. Romana Zambon, on the other hand, chose this chromatic immersion to lend elegance to her images. Thus her architectures take on an unusual lightness and guide the eye upwards, now to capture an ever spectacular whole, now to dwell on the thousand embroidered details. When the photographer captures apparently simple elements such as a bicycle or a tree climbing on a wall, she creates an atmosphere characterised by poetic sensitivity.
